Each year, Ocala continues to upgrade or replant portions of our orchard and vineyard. The extent of this is determined by both the severity of weather conditions from previous winters and by the demand from the public for specific fruit varieties.

In The Orchard

Due to the ongoing popularity of Honey Crisp, Royal Gala and Jonagold apples we continue to updgrade the orchard with new plantings of these apples. We are also finding that not only do these apples make a great eating apple they are becoming very popular at the winery as wines! Fresh fruit sales at the Orchard begin in early September and continue until early December. Call the winery for updates on varieties and availability.

In The Vineyard

Our ever changing and extreme weather patterns always present some concerns in the vineyard. This past winter didn’t cause any serious issues therefore we are hoping for a dry hot summer to bring our grapes to a bountiful harvest this fall.

The new cool climate varieties (Sabrevois and ES 6-16) continue to do well.

Last spring we continued planting these varieties as well as Marquette, La Crescent and ES8-2-43 a “Muscat” type vine.

Pinot Gris and Riesling are available at the winery after a brief absence; the summer and winter of 2008-2009 were not kind to these vines.

In The Winery Boutique

Ocala now has added ladies handbags, scarves and accessories in the Orchard Room Boutique. Due to the popularity of these items during the holiday season we now offer these items year round.
